Plan Questions

I built this page to cover questions that are not covered in the plans, hopefully someone has the answers:

#1  On the plan for frame 1, the note states to remove one 500 mm bay from the forward wing on plan 1 if using an engine heavier than 10 kg, since the forward wing on plan 1 is replaced by plan 16 is the reduction still necessary?  I think that this is not necessary as the wing and canard are of the design from the fiberglass version.

#2  On Plan 3 the bottom half view of the forward fork shows a 5 mm hole in the outer flange, what is the purpose of this hole?  Is it for a bungee or control cable?

#3  What is the outside diameter of the bearing that is press fit into the forward wing attachments?

#4  Fuel tank location - Reviewed the possibility of putting the tank under the seat and it looks like it would only hold about 3 gallons of fuel.  The prototype was flown with a Jerry can thrown behind the seat.

#8  Is 45 degree plywood really necessary for the forward wing (canard) spar?  The original plan shows 90 degree plywood oriented at 45 degrees instead. <=== Answer:  45 degree plywood has the plies oriented at 90 degrees from each other as I found out when I recieved my order from Aircraft Spruce, so you can cut standard plywood if you want to.

#9  What is the length of the anti-tab control rod?

#10  What are the travels of all of the control surfaces? (the following is from the fiberglass version flight manual)
              Elevator:  Down:    5 degrees
                           Up:          5 degrees
              Aileron:   Down:    14 degrees    +/- 2 degrees
                           Up:         25 degrees    +/- 2 degrees
              Anti-tab:  Down:     5 degrees     -0/+1 degrees
                           Up:          5 degrees     -0/+1 degrees
              Rudder:                30 degrees    +/- 2 degrees L/H and R/H

#11  Where are the control stops for the forward wing and where should they be set (flying fleas range from +2 to +12 or -3 to +12)?

#12  Where does the safety harness attach?

#13  Do the masts attach to the plywood or directly to the braces of F1?

#14  How do the control cables route from the pedals / control rod to the back pulleys without a hole in the seat back?

#15  What are the lengths of the outboard hinges on the anti-tab supposed to be?
