Found another Onyx picture

I don't have any interesting updates to the project, I have been working on building the control pulleys and I am still waiting for my Aircraft Spruce order (going on 5 weeks now) which would have been nice to have for the upcoming holiday weekend, oh well.
Here is a picture that I downloaded a while back of an Onyx, sorry that I don't recall the source.

Forward Wing Attachments

The plans call them forward wing attachments I wanted to title this post canard attachment hinges, or something along those lines.  The bottom line is this, the two metal pieces are mounted to the two forward masts on the fuselage, they have bearings press fit into the top holes that a 3/8" diameter shaft goes through and connects to two of the four forward wing hinges.  They still need radii cut, to be bent, and the bearings pressed in place.
All of this labeling made me realize I had the nomenclature wrong in some previous posts, they should be correct now.
I looked at all of the ribs that need to be cut for the main wings today and I do not know how to approach that one.  It's very overwhelming because there are over 40 ribs in each wing, each with compound angles, and the foam is really expensive.   So I need to find the best way to cut them with the most efficient use of material and effort.  I might have to cut out some cardboard patterns and lay them on the sheets to figure this one out.

Fuselage Frame Tracing

I still don't have my wood from Aircraft Spruce, going to be 4 weeks as of tomorrow, so I decided to trace out the fuselage frames on a spare piece of particle board.  In the meantime I will have to suffice reading about other people's building and flying adventures.

Workbench

Finished my office and workbench finally.   Then I mounted the fuselage jigs to the top.
The Divinycell foam came in from Wicks on Tuesday so I remachined the canard ribs.  It's funny how much more careful you are with getting the best yield from a sheet of foam that is 18 times more expensive than the blue Dow construction foam.
My order of spruce has still not come in yet from Aircraft Spruce, I hope the 50 some odd pieces of wood show up soon so I can grade it and plane it.  That reminds me, I am putting together a small list of tools that I need to procure.  Right now I need planer blades, a small dovetail saw, a fine finish blade for my miter saw, and a block plane.

Fuselage Jigs

I finally made a landing that I can be proud of on Wednesday!
Back to work.  This set of pictures shows the layout of the fuselage jigs that I machined out of 1/2" MDF.  Also in the last picture is my quality control agent Kassey.
Unfortunately my spruce is no where to be found yet.   I ordered 2 sheets of Divinycell from Wicks and am waiting for those too.  I decided that the piece of mind outweighed the cost savings in the foam even though I have test reports showing that the construction foam is capable of handling high loads; the plans show PVC foam (Klegecell) and that's the route I am taking.
